But, currently, we see a big gap between what skills the market needs and what the EU\u2019s workforce has to offer \u2014 and it is nowhere more apparent than in <strong>software development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The European Software Skills Alliance (ESSA), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.softwareskills.eu\/kick-off\/\">kicked off last December<\/a>, has been created <strong>to support the EU\u2019s Software Sector with a solid framework for educating and training individuals into high demand software roles<\/strong>, with major benefits to the digital ecosystem and society as a whole.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The EU project ESSA proposes a market-driven approach to software skills development<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What are the roles, competences, and skills we need?<\/p>\n<p>Europe and all actors from the software sector need an effective strategy to cope with the ever-growing demand for software professionals \u2014 the European Software Skills Alliance delivers a solution.<\/p>\n<p>ESSA aims to bridge the software skills gaps in Europe and <strong>accelerate the professional skilling, upskilling and reskilling of the EU\u2019s software workforce<\/strong> to ensure the current and future software skill and professional needs of the sector can be met. How? By delivering practical tools to meet the demand for software skills in Europe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>European Software Skills Strategy <\/strong>building on a <strong>market-oriented needs\u00a0analysis<\/strong>. As a result, it will define a novel approach to close together the European software skills and roles gaps, with concrete and implementable actions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vocational Education and Training (VET)\u00a0curricula, training\u00a0programmes and course materials.<\/strong>Practice-proofed, these learning opportunities will specifically address the identified software skills and roles gaps for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.softwareskills.eu\/skills-for-software-professionals-16\/\">Developer, DevOps expert, Solution designer, Technical (software) specialist and Test specialist<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0<strong>Software Skills Community<\/strong> spacethat allows you and all people believing we can be the actors of change to share knowledge and insights, and advocate all together for software skills and professional quality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Spread the news<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Skilling, upskilling, and reskilling the EU\u2019s software workforce is key to tackling the current \u2014 and future \u2014 challenges of the digital era.
